Welcome to News Northwest.

News Northwest is a news organization based in Olympia, WA. We're experimenting with projects that combine narrative, data repositories, and community involvement.

Currently we are running blogs for two cities:
Olympia, Washington
Portland, Oregon

We also have a feed reader site at reader.newsnw.org that tracks news in the Pacific Northwest.

Getting involved.
News Northwest currently has a pretty small team, and we'd be excited to get some help covering the news of the Pacific Northwest! Email us for more information.

Technology.
We use the open-source content management system Drupal for the News Northwest sites. We've developed a custom Drupal theme called News Network that you could revise to use for your own sites. Visit the theme's sandbox page on drupal.org. The theme is still under heavy development, so be ready for things to not work without a little extra effort. We'll announce on ideas.newsnw.org, our tumblr blog, any updates on the theme and any other development we release as open source.
